In the attempt to live a more frugal life, you can start to manage projects you would typically pay professionals for. In addition to home improvement projects, you can save plenty by taking on some auto repairs and maintenance jobs yourself. This article has two great DIYs to help you save you money on getting your car repaired. However, keep in mind that you should carry these out carefully, or you could end up damaging your vehicle. If you aren’t sure you about what you’re doing, you should seek professional help. If you live in Tennessee, a great place to get your Mercedes repaired would be Mercedes Nashville Service. You can find mercedes benz service centers with a quick Google search.

Replace the Air Filter

You need to change your car’s air filter every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever happens first. You can pay a technician and give up your car for a day, or you can choose to replace your air filter at home in about ten minutes. Firstly, find your screen under the hood of your car. Check your owner’s manual if you don’t see it as soon as you open the hood. Open up the casing, and check how the air filter fits inside it. Take a note of which way the screen faces. Remove the old air filter, and insert a new one in the exact way as the old one was placed. Close the metal clips when you’re done.

Cleaning Windshield Wipers

Wiper blade setups differ quite a bit from car to car, so you may have to follow a few different steps according to your owner’s manual. The process is quite similar to changing your air filter. Lift the wiper blades, like when you wash your windshield by hand, and then remove the old blades. Try to remember how the old blades connect to the metal arms. With most models, you’ll see a small tab on the underside of the wiper. Push the tab to remove the old blade. Then attach the new blades, while being careful not to bend the wiper arms or accidentally scratch your windshield. Line up everything and make sure the new ones are secured tightly in place. If you can’t remember exactly how the new blades should fit on the wiper arm, don’t worry. The packaging for the new blades should have a general set of instructions and a helpful diagram to help you place them the right way.
